You can make a difference in the world by giving students the opportunity to access free and affordable educational services!<\/p>\n<p><strong>About York Region Educational Services:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>York Region Educational Services (YRES) is a not-for-profit organization that provides individuals in the vicinity of the York Region with free and affordable educational resources in a safe and supportive environment that inspires, motivates, and helps set the foundation for personal growth.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About this opportunity:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As a Camp Counsellor Supervisor, you are responsible for overseeing and supporting camp counsellors in delivering a safe, engaging, and enriching experience for campers. This role involves mentoring staff, managing daily camp operations, and ensuring that all activities align with camp goals and policies.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Position details:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Salary: $17.20-20 per hour<\/li>\n<li>Total hours: 280 hours over 8 to 16 weeks<\/li>\n<li>Start date: flexible, working from May 2025 to the end of August 2025<\/li>\n<li>Location: camp sites, libraries, and community centers across York Region, such as Markham, Richmond Hill, Thornhill, Vaughan, Aurora-Oak Ridges, and Stouffville<\/li>\n<li>Employment eligibility requirements:<\/li>\n<li>Because our job positions are federally funded, you must be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, or a person who has been granted refugee status in Canada.<\/li>\n<li>Completion of a successful background check by the Government of Canada<\/li>\n<li>Passing a training quiz and exam<\/li>\n<li>Age 15-30 at the start of employment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Key responsibilities are as follows:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Conduct regular check-ins and feedback sessions with counsellors to promote professional development and address any concerns.<\/li>\n<li>Regularly observe and assess the performance of camp counsellors to ensure they are meeting standards.<\/li>\n<li>Facilitate team meetings to discuss programming and share best practices.<\/li>\n<li>Evaluating program effectiveness and make recommendations for improvements based on camper and staff feedback.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain open lines of communication with camp directors and other staff to ensure smooth operations.<\/li>\n<li>Address and manage any emergencies or unexpected situations that arise.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Position requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Dedication and passion toward STEAM and sports education and helping the community.<\/li>\n<li>Prior camp experience, or experience in planning\/facilitating children programs.<\/li>\n<li>Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work 35 to 40-hour work weeks, including evenings and weekends if needed.<\/li>\n<li>A valid Standard First Aid with CPR-C certification. (Can be obtained post-employment, before first work day.)<\/li>\n<li>A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check is required from successful candidates age 18 and above.
