About Help A Girl Out
Help A Girl Out (HAGO) is a national volunteer-powered charity committed to ending period poverty and accelerating menstrual equity through access, education, and empowerment. Our mission is to ensure that every woman/girl and menstruating individual is equipped to understand and manage their uterine and menstrual health with dignity.Through our core programs, we provide access to menstrual products for individuals experiencing period poverty and inclusive educational workshops that fill the health education gap, break barriers, promote dignity. Our mission is to ensure that no one is held back by their period.
About the Role:
As a Bilingual Programs Assistant you will support various Help a Girl Out programs that focus on raising awareness around menstruation and provide support with menstrual products both in English and French. The successful candidate is very organized and identifies as a good public speaker, team player, and is knowledgeable in the field of menstrual equity.
This position supports three core programs:
Menstrual Equity Education Program – Inclusive workshops addressing menstrual and uterine health gaps while reducing stigma for youth and underserved communities.
The Reusables Project (TRP) – Hands-on sewing workshops that teach participants to create reusable menstrual pads.
The Period Product Support Program (PPSP) – Combats period poverty by providing free disposable or reusable menstrual products to individuals in need.
Key Responsibilities:
Menstrual Equity Education Program
Education: Workshop Facilitation and Awareness Events
Facilitate educational workshops both in French and English.
Support the development of tailored content for educational workshops to ensure it is accessible, inclusive, and appropriate for diverse ages and cultural backgrounds.
Participate in booths and community events to raise awareness
Utilize strong communication skills and reliability to foster engagement, create a safe space, and ensure discussions are understood and productive.
Other duties as assigned.
The Period Product Support Program (PPSP)
Assist the programs manager in handling requests
Manage messages in the shared mailbox in French and English.
Communicate with requesters by email and phone
Travel within our storage area and office in Mississauga (car required)
Prepare the menstrual products for beneficiaries
Greet requesting organizations and provide them their products
Help maintain the dashboard on Monday.com
The Reusables Project (TRP)
Assist in organizing sewing workshops in collaboration with the TRP team.
Attend sewing workshops as an assistant to the instructor.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is organized, bilingual, passionate, and eager to learn.
They must demonstrate interest in education, gender equity, and community engagement.
They are a post-secondary student or recent graduate in Education, Social Sciences, or Community Development.
They have access to a vehicle for travel to partner locations within the GTA.
They can provide a Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sectors (VSC)
CPR & First Aid certification is an additional asset
